Like most people, if you watch numerous videos on You Tube you are bound to come across COTY Airspun Loose Face Powder - Translucent. I was very kindly given a face powder compact from around 1937 as I love to see antique makeup.
Here are some closeups which show the current state of the powders; the top one is the brand spanking new powder and although it looks as though there is no sifter, there is so the excess happened in transit.
This is the antique Coty powder with the year's version of a sifter, there is even some powder left and the smell is ... still the same! There is a mirror on the inside of the lid of this puff [seen in the first picture] and the clasp still works. The powder also still puffs out as you click it closed.
You can't really get a feel for the size of this compact until you put it next to a full size one;

For the last shot I was able to take a picture of the bottom of the 1937 compact which clearly shows COTY and Paris and is clearly different from the modern day powder.
Hope you've had a good Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year ;-)xx
